Job Summary: The Webmaster executes the technical aspects of The Palace's website. This person works with every department at the Palace and ensures both the integrity and the timely delivery of their web related projects. He/She also ensures that tools are in place to help decentralize the day to day maintenance and operations of the site. The webmaster reports on the website traffic and assists other departments in analyzing marketing and usage trends in order to improve site performance and facilitate overall Palace operations and revenue potential. This position reports to the Web Producer and works closely with the IT Manager on server and software related issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned as required):

Updates site with latest pricing, product versions, event information

Adds new features to website such as cookie scripting, navigation enhnacements, forms, etc.

Tracks website performance and recommends server enhancements

Provides quality assurance for pages created by other Palace departments

Provides support and training to other Palace departments

Tracks traffic, acquires analysis tools, summarizes and distributes analysis

Works with Marketing to assess the effectiveness of its programs

Works with Product Development in the product release process to ensure current versions are up

Maintains status of mirror sites and updates product versions to those sites

Ensures external links to and from Palace site are fucntional

Maintains website naming logic and structure

Identifies new tools and technologies and manages their implementation for the puprose of bettering site performance, attendance, and tracking

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, and 2-4 years of website or related programming experience related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have been responsible for the day to day maintenance of a medium to large corporate website for at least one year and has demonstrated a sense of ownership over this site. This person should also have knowledge of the internet community and be aware of the latest internet techologies and applications.

Skills and Programming Language Proficiency Required:

HTML 3.0, Netscape and Microsoft extensions to HTML

Familiarity with standard UNIX and Intel-based webserver technology

Extensive knowledge of the UNIX operating system and tools

Familiarity with graphics manipulation tools such as Photoshop, DeBabelizer, etc.

Perl / CGI Bin scripting

The ITC (http://www.it.utk.edu/itc) staff works with faculty across the campus to examine and integrate instructional technologies for their teaching practice. The Web Instructional Technologist will work with other ITC staff to serve the Web-based instructional needs of the campus faculty.

The Web Instructional Technologist will be responsible for teaching courses on basic to advanced uses of the Web for instruction; working with faculty to design, develop, and implement Web- and CD-ROM-based instructional projects; design and develop traditional and non-traditional course components, courses, and curricula; and develop and implement evaluation instruments for teaching with Web-based technologies. Qualifications

Computer Animation Instructor - part time

(3 nights, 3 afternoons or 3 mornings a week for 3 weeks each semester)

The Multimedia Production Studies Program is a one year intensive course designed to teach the student the production of all Multimedia assets (text, graphics, animation, sound, picture) from the ground up. Individual courses are given sequentially in 1, 2 or 3 week increments by working professionals rather than full time teaching staff. Founded in 1985, Nova is a fully accredited institution with campuses in Los Angeles, Whittier, Long Beach and Ontario.
